In February, Cosmo Security Solutions had their annual ACS Inspection take place, whereby an inspector visits a selection of their sites to ensure staff are adhering to all daily procedures. The inspector then spends 2-3 days at Head Office, also making sure office staff are adhering to the admin procedures.
The SIA Approved Contractor Scheme provides a universally recognised hallmark of quality for suppliers of private security services. The ACS accreditation mark enables procurers of private security services to distinguish between potential suppliers quickly, accurately and objectively. It provides assurance that the accredited provider has met a clearly defined and independently assessed set of quality standards throughout their business.
As a result, purchasers of private security services can be confident that the quality of services they receive and the capabilities of the people deployed under contract meet the highest industry standards.
On Thursday 18th February 2010, it was confirmed that Cosmo Security Solutions had passed their inspection with flying colours, achieving 57 points!
Cosmo Security Solutions had their first ACS Inspection take place in 2008 when plus 2 points were achieved, 24 points were achieved in 2009, so to obtain 57 points in our third year is a fantastic achievement by all members of the Cosmo team!
As of February 2010, there are 641 companies registered with the ACS and Cosmo Security Solutions are, therefore ranked in the top 25%!

The actions of Security Guarding Officer, Norman Barnes have saved the life of a civilian at Northfield Shopping Centre in Birmingham while attending an incident within Iceland on Thursday 15th October.
When Norman arrived at the store he was informed that a member of the public had fallen ill. Norman quickly established that resuscitation was required and administered CPR. Norman was then assisted after a short time by a nurse who happened to be in the centre. All these actions took place prior to the Ambulance Services arriving.
Norman’s quick reactions and training has saved this person’s life.
Support from other security staff and cleaners ensured that this incident was dealt with, with care consideration and professionalism of the highest standard.
This excellent response from Norman demonstrates a commitment to the job that is demonstrated on a daily basis at Northfield.
Norman has shown along with all other Cosmo staff a commitment to their jobs that is a credit to both Cosmo and them as individuals.
We have received excellent feedback from our retailers on Norman’s quick thinking and actions as well as praise for the way in which our staff carry out their duties on a daily basis.

Newbury Business Today Interviews the Team at Cosmo Security Solutions

Driven by the recession, crime is on the rise and discouraging opportunist crime and anti-social behaviour is an increasing concern of many businesses. Thankfully help is at hand from Cosmo Security Solutions, which has its UK headquarters in Newbury.
Meeting at its Enborne Gate offices, Newbury Business Today discovered how Cosmo Security Solutions provides much more than mere security from Group’s Commercial Director, David Foster.
He explained: “We provide a comprehensive range of manned services from our Operations Centre here including services you might expect such as security guarding, mobile security patrols and alarm response and key holding through to specialist security training where we can help a client manage their own risks.
“We also supply highly professional customer service officers for shopping centres and serviced offices, and can provide 24-hour security receptionists, front of house officers and concierge personnel.”
One of relatively few security providers in the UK that is an SIA Approved Contractor, Cosmo Security Solutions has a reputation for providing professional operatives who are trained to the highest level with training tailored to the sites where they work. Security staff are IT literate, environmentally aware, familiar with the importance of health and safety procedures and proficient at customer service. Cosmo Services Group is also accredited with the internationally recognised ISO9001 for its quality management.
David Foster explained: ““We work closely with prospective clients so that we can understand what level of service they need Cosmo to provide and we can make better recommendations through this collaborative approach. That is, of course, if someone needs our support. We certainly have told people before that they do not need security services. This is typical of the integrity that earns us so many referrals.
“We are also continually reviewing the level of satisfaction our clients experience, quickly respond to any concerns and will raise any points where we think we can improve the service provision. It amazes us that while we are in constant contact and reviewing monthly, we routinely discover prospective clients have gone for a year or longer without formally reviewing the service level with their previous provider and that is simple not good enough.
“Another of the many ways Cosmo differs from so many security companies is the way we strive for a seamless service. Typically when someone is ill or on holiday a security firm will simply send in temporary staff that will be unprepared. In contrast we always provide site trained support, replacement security staff that will be familiar with our clients premises and know what support they need to offer.
“We also pride ourselves in the way all our staff are committed to continually adding value and doing so much more than the job itself. For example, one of our clients was able to save money when the security staff who had to be on site offered to water the plants – before they were paying for a landscaping company to come in daily.
“Another site saw our team turning on the photocopiers just before people arrived so they would be ready and warmed up – and ensured they were turned off at the end of the day, improving productivity and saving money.
“We encourage our teams to question the way they are delivering services and want them to tell us if they think there is a better way – and often there is. Of course a great idea on one site can often be rolled out across many of the sites we support here in West Berkshire and throughout the UK.
“We would love to represent more businesses in West Berkshire to support the community where our headquarters is based through improving security and safety locally, and providing local employment opportunities.”
Cosmo Security Solutions is extending an attractive invitation to Newbury Business Today readers who want to safeguard their business. Highly experienced and professional operatives will provide a free security review and give cautious business owners advice on the steps they should take to protect their company – or give them peace of mind that they are already do enough.

Security Guards Monitor CCTV Camera’s 24 Hours a Day
Cosmo Tag Security Solutions has provided a total CCTV Installation Package to the Verulam Point Building in ST Albans, London. Overlooking St. Albans Station in the centre of the city, Verulam Point is an impressive looking building comprising 53,000sq ft of corporate offices.
All the Samsung Techwin equipment was installed and commissioned by Electronic Security Solutions, part of the Cosmo Services Group. It replaces the technologically outdated system which could only capture black and white images.
The installation of the latest cutting edge digital technology allows security staff to comprehensively monitor the building and car park 24 hours a day.
Building manager of Verulam Point, La Riviere said: “We are very pleased with the images generated from all the cameras and particularly so in night time conditions. We have, for example, a camera in our plant room and even with the lights out, the camera is able to assist us in verifying any activity.”
“I have been impressed with how well the people at Tag Security and Samsung Techwin have worked together to ensure that Verulam Point has a first class CCTV system. Our security personnel are very happy as they find the system very easy to control and the images of superior quality. The next stage for us is to implement Samsung Techwin’s licence-free Central Management System software to give us quick and easy remote access to the system.”
