In February, Cosmo Security Solutions had their annual ACS Inspection take place, whereby an inspector visits a selection of their sites to ensure staff are adhering to all daily procedures. The inspector then spends 2-3 days at Head Office, also making sure office staff are adhering to the admin procedures.

pothole-appearanceThe cold weather has contributed to appearance of tarmac surface damage and damage to underground water drainpipes.

An unavoidable consequence of spreading rock salt is that once the thaw arrives roadways, pavements and car parks are vulnerable to potholes both small and large.

These can be dangerous to vehicles and unsuspecting pedestrians.

To date, this winter, Cosmo has received over 30 callouts to carry out temporary repairs to surface damage, followed by a request to quote for re-surfacing.

Cosmo uses their own direct labour to carry out repairs.

Cosmo is available to carry out the mammoth task of undertaking repairs to drain and water pipes.

In addition to repairing potholes, many paving slabs have been damaged and have been lifted, causing hazards, which again Cosmo possess the expertise to repair.

snow-clearanceHaving taken in a 10 ton load of rock salt back in August in anticipation of another cold winter spell, Cosmo gained a head start in reacting to the numerous road gritting callouts that our works desk team received.

Cosmo operatives were able to respond immediately after the exceptional snow fall and icy conditions over Britain.

Operating on a nationwide scale, Cosmo workers were called to over 50 Industrial Parks to spread gritting rock salt on the roads and pathways and clear the heavy build up of drifting snow.

In Bedford the conditions were so bad that no vehicles could get in or out of a large retail park and it took a full day for our operatives to get things back to a semblance of normality.

Cambridge currently lie third in the table after their latest 26 – 6 win over Nuneaton and are the Eastern Counties most successful rugby club.

Cambridge director of rugby James Shanahan was pleased with the result, and a first bonus point in four matches.

“In the first half we maybe tried a bit too hard to offload, and a few cambridge-Division-one-Tableaimless kicks, but generally our ball retention was pretty good and we worked hard to get two good tries,” he said.

“In the second half, we started really brightly and Evo (Craig Evans) got a nice try after good work from the forwards.

“Then there was the injury to the poor lad and that massive delay, so it was just about character and mindset and keeping our focus.

“To come back out, get the bonus point and not concede a try for the first time this season deserves a tap on the back.”

norman-barnesThe actions of Security Guarding Officer, Norman Barnes have saved the life of a civilian at Northfield Shopping Centre in Birmingham while attending an incident within Iceland on Thursday 15th October.

When Norman arrived at the store he was informed that a member of the public had fallen ill. Norman quickly established that resuscitation was required and administered CPR. Norman was then assisted after a short time by a nurse who happened to be in the centre. All these actions took place prior to the Ambulance Services arriving.

Norman’s quick reactions and training has saved this person’s life.

Support from other security staff and cleaners ensured that this incident was dealt with, with care consideration and professionalism of the highest standard.

This excellent response from Norman demonstrates a commitment to the job that is demonstrated on a daily basis at Northfield.

Norman has shown along with all other Cosmo staff a commitment to their jobs that is a credit to both Cosmo and them as individuals.
